  • Alex Lehnerer, an architect and urban designer, currently holds a position as assistant professor at ETH Zurich in Switzerland. Prior to that he was based in Chicago, where he was a professor at the University of Illinois, School of Architecture. He received his PhD from ETH Zurich, his MArch from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), is partner of the firm Kaisersrot in Zurich, and founded the Department of Urban Speculation (DeptUS) in Chicago. His Zurich based architectural practice CIRIACIDISLEHNERER ARCHITEKTEN tries to understand architecture as cultural practice by relentlessly exploring urban and architectural conditions—their forms, ingredients, and rules.

  • Jared Macken received his M. Arch from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2011 where he was the recipient of the Pella Fellowship Prize. While at UIC, Jared held Teaching Assistant positions for history and theory, co-founded the Department of Urban Speculation with Alex Lehnerer, and was an editor as well as art director for Fresh Meat, a student-lead journal about architecture. His studies now take him to Singapore where he is a research assistant and PhD candidate for the chair of Assistant Prof. Alexander Lehnerer. Prior to studying architecture, he received a BFA (Hons) in Graphic Design.

  • Lorenzo Stieger received his diploma in Architecture at the ETH in 2009. He has worked as an architect and project manager for architecture offices in Los Angeles and Zurich, where he worked on international design competitions, dealt with building law concerns and evaluations (Switz.), and building projects. Before he came to Singapore, Lorenzo visited many Asian countries including Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. He now works in Singapore for the chair of Architecture and Urban Design for Prof. Alexander Lehnerer. Being a PhD candidate in the chair, he and his colleagues focus on the complementary relationship of plans and politics and its physical outcome in the city.

  • Jayne Kelley is a writer, editor, and designer based in Chicago. She manages exhibitions, public programs, and communications at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Architecture, where she has taught introductory architectural history and theory. Currently, she is co-leading a graphic design professional practice course in the UIC School of Art and Design. Her writing has been published in the Journal of Architectural Education, and she has copyedited and consulted on several in-progress manuscripts. She has an MA in Design Criticism from UIC and a BA in Art History and Economics, with honors, from Georgetown University.

    Jayne Kelley collaborated with P+P on the research “The Western Town – A Theory of Aggregation“.

  • Adrianne Wilson Joergensen is a designer and researcher. Her Master of Architecture is from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), where she was the 2012 Carol Phelan Fellow and two-time recipient of the Nancy Gislason Award. She has worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and collaborated with UrbanLab, FAT Architecture and the UIC Department of Urban Speculation. Before transitioning to architecture, she studied graphic design at North Carolina State University and owned a graphic design firm in Raleigh, North Carolina.

  • Matthew van der Ploeg is a designer + researcher from Chicago.  Prior to joining P + P, Matthew worked as an architect in a very-large design office where he worked on architectural and urban projects in the US, Asia, and the Middle East.  Through independent collaborations, his work has been featured in the Venice Biennale as well as the Architecture Biennale in Rotterdam.  Matthew received his Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2011, where he was awarded the Alpha Rho Chi Medal of Merit.
